Why are there still not many women among CEOs? What kind of organisational culture supports gender parity in top management?

Masterclass for HR experts and professional coaches:

Creating organisational culture that supports women in top management

5th of April 2024, at 9.30-16.00
SEB Innovation Center (Tornimäe 2, Tallinn)

Gender inequalities persist in all European labour markets. On average, men are more likely than women to be in paid work, hold leadership positions, and work in more lucrative occupations. Men dominate most top management positions, while women carry out most of the unpaid care work at home. How can we change this? What is the role of organisations in addressing gender inequalities in top level management?

The Estonian HR Association PARE and the Think tank Praxis are pleased to invite you to spend a day with renowned business leaders and top managers as well as a gender expert and a coach from Sweden to discuss:

  • Are there differences in ways Estonian women and men reach leadership positions?
  • What effective tools are available for HR professionals to support gender equality in the workplace and women in top management?
  • How can professional coaches promote gender equality in organisations they work with?

The working language of the masterclass is English, one session will be held in Estonian.

12:45 - 14:45
Session I (in English) | Masterclass for HR professionals: 10 ways to increase the number of women in leadership positions
Jenny Claesson   Owner of Add Gender and gender diversity expert

Jenny will provide practical tips on how to focus on gender balance and increase the representation of women in top leadership positions. Understanding the importance of gender balance and inclusion in the workplace is critical to achieving positive business results.

Research shows that gender balanced organisations have

  • higher earnings
  • less sick leave
  • and lower turnover rates.

Despite the desire for more ideas and innovation, organisations often struggle to achieve gender equality. This is due to taking on too much and overlooking the impact of small changes. It can also be difficult to know where and how to start. Jenny will expand on her presentation from the previous day’s conference and invite participants to discuss the situation in their own organisation and explore ways to move forward.

12:45 - 14:45
Session II (in English) | Masterclass for professional coaches: Did you know that a coaching approach can help increase the number of women in leadership?
Daniela Ågren   Certified coach, HR-consultant and norm engineer of Add Gender

Coaching is a powerful tool that can help HR and managers to create more gender balance in an organisation. Coaching elicits authentic responses from clients, leading to more sustainable results. It maximises the potential and creativity of individuals and teams. The foundations of this session will be explored to help more women advance into leadership positions.

During this masterclass, Daniela will share examples of how she has used coaching to create more gender equality in various Swedish organisations, including the male-dominated transport sector. She will show you how to use a coaching approach to influence the organisation in different aspects of gender equality.

12:45 - 14:45
Session III (in Estonian) | Masterclass for HR professionals and managers: From gender audits to boardroom quotas - practical tools to promote gender equality
Mari-Liis Sepper   Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities Programme Manager at Think Tank Praxis

Mari-Liis Sepper, expert of gender equality and equal treatment with more than 15 years of experience, Estonian equality commissioner in 2010-2015, invites participants to learn about gender equality by doing. This session will be hands-on group work where we analyse case studies of various organisations.

We will take a closer look at how to know if you have a problem of gender inequality in your organisation. What kind of data is needed? We will explore various ways to bring about a change in organisational culture. The workshop aims to equip participants with practical skills and tools to promote gender equality in their organisation.
